Teaching

I joined Azim Premji University, Bhopal, in December 2023 as an Assistant Professor.
Here are the courses that I am teaching here.

Introduction to Biodiversity and Conservation

Semester: III
Offered: 2024
Units: What biodiversity is; Components of biodiversity; Biodiversity loss and conservation; Present and future of biodiversity conservation

This course is the first course in the Biological Conservation Occupational Track (OT). This OT is designed to introduce the students to conservation issues in India and equip them with the necessary scientific underpinnings in conservation biology and restoration.

Basic Quantitative Reasoning and Methods

Semester: I
Offered: 2024
Units: Numerical reasoning, Geometric and spatial thinking, Algebra and coordinate geometry, Statistical and data skills

This course aims to build the foundations of mathematics the students may have missed in school (or couldn’t learn well enough). The focus is more on topics that will help the students in common curriculum courses and the occupational tracks.

Quantitative Thinking for Biologists

Semester: II
Offered: 2024, 2025
Units: Introduction to R, Probability and probability distributions, Applications and practice in R

The ability to use quantitative information to understand the world around us is essential for biology. Many students take up biology without adequate mathematical and analytical skills, which can hamper their ability to fully understand biological phenomena. This level 1 course aims to equip students with basic quantitative analytical approaches and help develop quantitative thinking.
